Tips for Relieving Sore Feet

by | Sep 14, 2015

As the dog days of summer are getting smaller in our rearview mirror, it’s time for the comforts of autumn here in Geneva, IL. This means picking up some fresh-brewed coffee from Graham’s 318 Coffeehouse, reaching for that engaging book you found at TownHouse Books in St. Charles, and enjoying the rest of your Saturday morning at home. Spending time at home helps to enhance the comforts of the season, and this can even extend to relieving your aching feet. Sure, you can always stop by our office for professional treatment, but some home remedies for sore feet work well, too.

To relieve sore feet at home, start by rubbing them down. Even better, if you have a loved one who owes you a favor, a foot rub is an excellent way to cash in on it! Following the foot massage, put them up on an ottoman or take up the full couch as you relax with your coffee and book.

Everyone loves a good foot massage, but another favorite method of relieving sore feet is to soak them in warm water. There are various ways that you can enhance the experience by adding oils or tea to the water, but you may find that Epsom salts work wonders, too.

If your sore feet are especially painful with the first steps in the morning, then you likely have plantar fasciitis and will benefit from ice therapy. Use an ice pack on the sore area three times during the course of the day for 20 minutes at a time to help promote healing and reduce levels of inflammation and pain.

Hopefully these tips are able to help you relieve your sore feet, but remember that Prairie Path Podiatry & Spa is here to offer professional treatment when home care is not enough.
